Forest School in the rain!

It was very wet and rather cold last week when we went out to Forest School. Year 2 were making dens using branches, ropes and logs and were working really hard despite the weather.

Tying knots isn't as easy as it looks when other people do them!

It was a bit big but they managed to work together and move it to use it in their shelter.

Now that's easier than trying to lift it up!

When we all got too wet and cold we carried on making dens inside - they were really well made and looked comfortable enough to live in. Mrs Holt wanted to stay there and have a sleep!

Year 1 Shelter Making

Making shelters - it took ages to get the logs level - pity we didn't have a spirit level but Rosie had a good eye for it! The children had to measure the gap and find a branch that was just the right size - it took a while but they found one eventually.

Perry Wood measuring trees

We found lots of different ways of measuring trees - with bodies and different sticks. Our biggest tree was 4 people, or 9 sticks - I wonder how big that is in centimetres?

It's tiring work measuring you know!

Teamwork! They rolled it in the end.

Forest School in the snow!!

Year 1 enjoyed Forest School in the snow today - it was very cold but they didn't seem to notice as they were so busy building a nest for the birds!
