Perry Wood again!

More tree measuring - this time with sticks.

Up the slope!

This one was 13 hands all the way round.

Counting tree rings to see how old the tree was. There have been lots of trees cut down here which looks quite sad but Mrs Long explained that this needs to be done so that other trees have room to grow and so they can get some sunlight - we spotted some small trees growing up through the leaves.

I am a tree!

Mud!

Ooops!

Mmmm it's a plane, no a butterfly, no maybe it's a bird.

A bird? Or maybe a dog.

What do you think this one looks like?

Jigsaw puzzle nearly complete.

Having a rest - we walked a lot!

Perry Wood measuring trees pt2

Off go the Hedgehogs following Mrs Long's instructions - the children were really good at spotting the 'bossy' words used.

Tracks - maybe it's a dinosaur - shall we follow it?

Oooh a bigger footprint - no sign of anything yet though.

Tree measuring with people.

Rolling the log.

Estimating the height of the tree.

Look a jigsaw puzzle.

Forest School in the rain!

It was very wet and rather cold last week when we went out to Forest School. Year 2 were making dens using branches, ropes and logs and were working really hard despite the weather.

Tying knots isn't as easy as it looks when other people do them!

It was a bit big but they managed to work together and move it to use it in their shelter.

Now that's easier than trying to lift it up!

When we all got too wet and cold we carried on making dens inside - they were really well made and looked comfortable enough to live in. Mrs Holt wanted to stay there and have a sleep!
